ZEROdB Live were delighted to be selected as lighting and staging provider for the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment Homecoming at Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster, featuring Pixie Lott as the surprise headline act.
Forces homecoming shows take place on the Barracks, often in venues that were not designed to host headline music acts. “This one is particularly strange,” added Rick Price of the British Forces Foundation (BFF). He was referring to the clear-span marquee tent we had to turn into a concert venue. “I’m worried we won’t get the light show we want with such a low roof.”
Taking this as a challenge, ZEROdB Live designed the stage and lighting rig to allowing enough space depth for three live acts whilst still giving room for an impressive floor package of lighting.
Using Clay Paky Sharpys to create beams that traversed the entire 75M tent, GLP Impressions, Sunstrips and Martin Mac 250 Kyrptons, we were able to deliver a stadium-inspired lightshow whilst still remaining just within our allotted power limit of just 32A per phase.
A crowd of 1,100 went crazy when the 21-year-old singer/song-writer was introduced to the stage at Battlesbury Barracks in Warminster. Along with her band, she performed a 30-minute set, which included smash hits All About Tonight, Boys and Girls and Mama Do.
The atmosphere was electric as Pixie had the audience singing and bouncing.
The BFF show was to welcome home the Yorkshires who have just completed a tour of Afghanistan.
Dance band Alpha Connection got the music underway before Pixie took to the stage, and after her performance they were then joined by one of The Yorkshire’s own, and 2011 X Factor finalist, Jonjo Kerr.
“It was a night that will live long in the memories of all those lucky enough to be there.” Captain Andrew Bond said after the show: “The night has gone down in regimental history. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for delivering every way.”
