The Proposal
Create two exclusive VIP areas, one on-stage and one at the Front of House mix position at O2 Academy Brixton for Black Coffee’s headline London show.
Additionally to a custom circular DJ booth with a segregated area for “friends and family”
Both areas had to include accommodation for VIP tables, allowing for full table service, unencumbered access, whilst at the same time safely segregating these clients from technical equipment and working areas.
Our Approach
Transforming the on-stage area of the UK’s most iconic music venue into a glamorous VIP hangout is full of challenges; the area was never designed to play host to several hundred demanding customers, service access must be swift and smooth. The VIPs needed to feel part of the show, whilst being in an exclusive cocoon.
ZEROdB Live started by creating a full 3d CAD of O2 Academy Brixton, allowing us to closely model our proposed structures, creating video walk-throughs which allowed the main stakeholders to clearly visualise our concept. Working closely with stakeholders O2 Academy Brixton management Raffles (who operated the VIP areas), BCS Audio, and Black Coffee’s management we delivered a concept that met all their diverse requirements.

The Delivery
ZEROdB Live used Prolyte LiteDeck staging, steps and accessories throughout the build for all three platforms and the custom DJ booth.
Building, painting, cladding and dressing the three platforms was performed over a two-day period in conjunction with the build schedules for both audio & lighting departments.
Despite initial reservations from the venue about the sleek operation of the VIP areas, the design and access points allowed for fast access for both customers and waiters alike.
